Today I find myself decorating, cooking food I'll probably just bring to work because its too much for me to eat alone, and listing to holiday music.
I am a staunch defender of the no holiday music until after Thanksgiving rule. But when it's time...man, it's time. The holidays are stressful, sometimes awfully lonely, and yet at the same time I get a sense of joy and calm when cuddling in my Christmas Star Wars pajamas, drinking hot cider or cocoa, and watching Love Actually...or a Harry Potter marathon.
Why do I associate Harry Potter with the holidays? Maybe its because I received each of the hardcovers for a night of Hanukkah (I was raised both Jewish and Christian). Or maybe my family always knew to get me the DVDs as they came out with each holiday. December just says its time to watch Harry Potter again. But I digress.
I do not shy away from my love of the Holidays, as is proved by my Holiday story catalogue:
Yeah...I like the holidays. I really love writing about the holidays. There always seems to be a more acute sensation of need and love around this time of year. It can cause better conflict and hotter, more desperate sex.
But the thing that really rouses that feeling in most? The music! And without further ado I give to you my holiday playlist..or at least half of it. It's very long already so I thought I'd cut some out. Usually the playlist is six hours long. No, it's not a problem for me to find or listen to holiday music for six hours straight. What kind of question is that?
Enjoy, my friends. Be safe. Be kind to each other. We are all equal. I love you.
I'm a geek with a sometimes wacked out imagination.
